Last updated May 2026 I’ve had the opportunity to visit many Zoos in several different states. Whether it was a state I had lived in, or one I was visiting. This experience was vastly different. Located Southeast of Olympia, in Pierce County, is a Nationally Accredited Zoo, Northwest Trek Animal Park. After a 45-minute drive from home, we were ready to experience this amazing park in all of its glory! Plus, didn’t hurt that we picked a sunny and cool day to visit. Thinking of visiting Arizona in December for a magical get-away? Well, you may have to redefine “magical”. For me, I enjoy the winter wonderland landscape for December. I enjoy being cozy with layers for Winter. Something I did not experience when visiting Southern Arizona. Have you ever had a chance to meet wolfdogs in real life? I hadn’t! I had seen videos of people visiting wolf dog sanctuary’s in various states but didn’t know Washington a sanctuary of its own! To be honest, this trip was also part of a birthday surprise so it was a win-win. This particular sanctuary is located in Shelton, Washington. A short 30-minute drive from home.
