If you happen to be in the Portland, Oregon area in the Spring, I highly recommend venturing over into Wooden Shoe Tulip Farms for an afternoon stroll. After a short 2 hour drive from my home, I landed in Wooden Shoe Tulip Farms. There is a metal walk bridge allowing visitors to gain a higher perspective of the entire field, which is where I was able to capture the picture posted above. Wooden Shoe Tulip Farms offers a gift shop on site as well as an area where you can purchase tulip bulbs to take home, should you wish to try your hand at growing tulips yourself.

The farm offers tethered and sunrise Hot Air Balloon flights during their “on” season. It’s a family friendly outing that offers different activities to those interested in more if they aren’t quite ready to leave but have already walked through the beautiful tulip field.
The beautiful part about going out to the Tulip Farm after rainfall is that I was able to capture raindrops still drying on the flowers and the stormy weather threatening another downpour. Even better, there are people who tend not to adventure out after a stormy day, which means less people to try and navigate around and more time to be able to enjoy and admire the beautiful field. The messy part about going out there after a fresh rainfall, is since the tulips are planted, the ground will be muddy from the rain. That and trying not to step on all the earthworms that have surfaced from the rainfall!
Overall Thoughts
I had a great time exploring the tulip fields. I went towards the later part of the season and I didn’t miss out on any of the beautiful tulips that had grown. Being able to go on a gloomy and rainy day added some additional pros and cons to the experience but I definitely enjoyed myself. I hope you are able to experience the vibrant fields that Wooden Shoe Tulip Farms have to offer! I did not purchase any tulip bulbs myself, just because I know my chances of keeping them alive are slim to none.
